It's a bird, it's a plane, she floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee. Alright, all I really did was fix my laptop by myself so that it would run faster. Alright, my brother, Troy, may have told me how to do it. I replaced a 1 gb stick of ram with a 2 gb. Now I can run Netflix on my laptop. :o) I sounded like I really knew my shit though when talking to the guy at Best Buy.
I'm not a big fan of helpless females. Though at times I have needed help, I do try to do things myself first if I can. I can do little things like fix towel bars, toilets and fire alarms. :o) I have been living on my own since 2008. I had to figure shit out. Several months in 2011 I could barely walk. It killed me when I was in the hospital and could not even sit up on my own. Then my mom had to live with me and help me shower and stuff. I have to admit sometimes it's nice to have help to do tougher things but having a nurse or my mom have to help with mundane task sucked.
I'm proud that I have my own tool box and know how to use them. I'm also a fair shot. I don't mean to brag but I out shot a cop at skeet. Not to shabby.

Keep Trying
I start blogs but never seem to keep up with them. They are very therapeutic for me so I'm not sure why I don't blog every day. Strange as it may seem, I forget. I forget loads of things since 5/5/11 along with some balance issues. My trainer has really helped me with the balance issues. My life is completely different since that day and worth blogging about. I shall try again.
For this first blog I will do a speed catch up on what has been happening in my life. I became scared to live. I have this time bomb in my head that could go off any minute. I found there were steps I could take to keep that from happening. I slowly started living. While cooped up inside my little apartment, unable to walk far or without a walker and not able to drive I had tons of time to think. I won't deny thoughts of suicide. Loads of self pity. Then I found three things to inspire me.
First was re-reading the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. I was reminded of the power of God. On the one year anniversary of when I almost died I wanted a tattoo that represented the power of God. Chad Stewart from Ace Custom Tattoo created the most awesome tattoo of Aslan the Lion. Every time I look at it I am amazed.
I watched the movie Soul Surfer during that time and was amazed by the story of Bethany Hamilton. She was the surfer who lost her arm to a shark. She didn't let is get her down. She continued to surf and to help others. She wouldn't let people treat her as handicapped.
My biggest inspiration was a story that happened in my hometown of Columbia, SC. I'm a punk girl and have always loved punk music. Social D, The Hives, Sex Pistols, The Descendents, The Killers and Blink 182. I believe it was Sept. 19, 2008 when there was a horrific plane crash in Columbia. It hit the news and I began praying for the people. Seeing it I couldn't believe there were any survivors though. Then the news reported Travis Barker, the drummer for Blink 182 and DJAM survived but were badly burnt. I began praying like mad for them. Remembering Travis and what he went through and overcame stayed in my mind and inspired me. He kept going and has a motto of PMAallday. (Positive Mental Attitude)
Travis made me realize I didn't just want to survive, I wanted to live. I pushed myself to get back to work. Some days not knowing how I made it. After I gained strength I decided to really live. I say what is on my mind. I now try things I have always wanted to do, like kayaking. I have taken it even further and hired a personal trainer to help me get in shape and work on the small balance issues I still have. I did my first 5k. I am diabetic and found a book, "Reversing Diabetes", and became vegan. I have gone from 5 insulin shots a day to 1 and think I can do away with that one now.
Travis Barker actually answered me on twitter one night and became my first follower. I don't message him, I just let him sit there in my list. I don't want to invade his space. He most probably doesn't even realize I'm there. He will never know how much that simple act meant to me. He will never understand how he inspired me. I wish one day I could meet him and give him a big hug.
My trainer, Vito, kicks my ass once a week. I'm so vegan now that I don't even want or miss meat. It has become a lifestyle. I have even passed up birthday cake. I'm happier and healthier than I have been in ages. I have three mottos I rely on for strength: PMAallday, One Life, One Chance and If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.
Now I have caught things up. I will try to blog as often as possible as therapy for me and to keep everyone updated. Until later, stay positive!
